Andrzej Zujewicz

Andrzej Zujewicz was born in Zabrze in 1971. In 1991 he successfully graduated from State Lyceum of Arts in Katowice. Between 1991 and 1997 Zujewicz was studying at Faculty of Graphic Arts and Painting at Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He got his painting diploma with distinction at the workshop of prof. Wlodzimierz Kunz in 1997. After his studies he moved to Suwalki Land, to the village of Zubrówka. Since 2000 he has been working at the Regional Culture and Arts Centre in Suwalki, where he organizes exhibitions the modern arts gallery Chlodna 20 and PAcamera.
    He is occupied by painting, drawing, graphic arts and artistic photography.

    Andrzej Zujewicz has received numerous awards, for instance: in 1998 he received a scholarship which had been founded by Polish Ministry of Arts and Culture, the first prize in the competition "Portrait" which had been organized by Foto and Polfoto trade fair (1995), an honourable mention in photography competition "Images of Europe - Europe Crossing Borders" in Holland (1996), in 1999 Zujewicz received an honourable mention in art competition entitled "Autumn in Bielsk". He is also a double finalist of an art competition "The painting of the year" (2002 and 2003), organized by Art & Business. In 2005 he received a scholarship founded by the mayor of Suwalki. He has taken part in a great number of collective exhibitions in Poland and other countries: "Promotions 97" and "Satyrykon 2001" in Legnica, "Animalactions" in "Laznia" - Centre of Contemporary Arts in Gdansk (2002), "Border existence" and “International Exhibition of Art in Alytus”- exhibitions of polish and lithuanien artists from Suwalki and Alytus (2007 and 2010), “Biurowiec Sztuki” Suwalki (2009 and 2010), "Auction of the Young Artists" - Desa Modern (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) and Polswiss Art (2011).
    The individual exhibitions: Kraków (1996), Suwalki (1999, 2001, 2004, 2006), Wigry (2001), Elk (2000, 2006), Wierzba (2008), Wilkasy (2008), Waren (Müritz) in Germany (2008), Lomza (2010), Köln in Germany (2011), Konin (2011).
    The artist is also a participant as well as an coorganiser of International Painting Plain-Air Workshops "At the Source", group exhibitions: Saloon of Suwalki Plastic Arts 2001, The Triennials of Suwalki Plastic Arts 2004 and Suwalki Saloon of Art 2011. He organised International Photo Plain-Air Workshops "Photoinspirations" in 2007 and 2008.
